As the winning design, Rock’s contemporary sofa will I’m sure be a success for Designers Guild. Design Nation has done a fantastic job in gathering such a wide range of retailers to ensure the availability of this high quality collection.”
Lucia van der Post, The Times, and judge for this Laurent-Perrier Design Award 2005 commented, “We chose Rock’s design because it is so wonderfully resolved, so very well thought out, and it has some serious innovation in the construction of the foam inside. It is also extremely elegant to look at and very well priced.”
The judging panel comprised Peta Levi MBE, David Hesketh MW, Robin Levien (product designer), Shin Azumi (furniture and product designer), Lucia van der Post (The Times) and Fiona Hayes (House & Garden).
Rock receives a cheque for £2,000, a Jeroboam of Laurent-Perrier Brut Non-Vintage Champagne and candlesticks designed for Laurent-Perrier by Hugo Eccles, winner of the 2002 Laurent-Perrier Design Challenge.
In 2004, the Laurent-Perrier Design Award went to Katy Holford for The Opal Collection of dressing table accessories, commissioned by Crabtree & Evelyn and now available in stores nation-wide. As Katy explains, winning the award has boosted her design career, “I was extremely honoured to win the Laurent-Perrier Design Award 2004 for The Opal Collection for Crabtree & Evelyn. It has brought my designs considerable attention and the high profile publicity from the award has been extremely valuable.”
